What happened to the classes?
Those who have been around longer will know that there used to be a full roster of regular classes in the room next to Trabajando, also led by Cinthya. However due to the size of the community and the variety of classes available already available in Delft starting this September, we did not think that there was enough space for us to have a full roster without damaging the community.
The reason we had started with a full roster was because Unit X of the TU Delft abruptly cancelled it's tango classes, which left a void in the local scene. The DSDA Blue Suede Shoes had already been organising beginner classes in the room next to Trabajando, so together with Jory we scrambled to fill the gap TU Delft created with it's cancellation. We really wanted to ensure that the inflow of new tango dancers remained unblocked - we believe this has been successful. With this backdrop, Cinthya took over the classes in May, and we launched a shorter series of classes in August.
Starting in September, the TU Delft has restarted offering tango classes again, which will be taught by Jory and Cinthya. Trabajando has never been, nor intended to be, a professional dance school so with the return of the X classes we decided against hosting another full roster in the autumn.
We do believe that having classes of some sort next to a practica, where people can practice what they have just learned can be an incredibly empowering to the learning process. For that reason we were very happy that Cinthya was also willing to organise the above bootcamps with us. If you wanted to follow classes at Trabajando, we hope you'll consider the bootcamps instead.
And if the TU Delft decides to cancel again?
Well, we'll be were we've always been.
